About The Position

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement's Pipeline Safety Division as a Civil Engineer General (CEG). This role is based in the Southeastern Pennsylvania region and offers a rewarding career path with opportunities for advancement. The Civil Engineer General serves within the engineering staff of the Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement, performing a range of pipeline safety engineering assignments. These tasks require the interpretation and application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and guidelines, along with sound engineering judgment to assess regulatory compliance. Please be advised, this position requires residency within one of the following Southeastern Pennsylvania counties, or the selected candidate must relocate within six months of employment: Bucks, Delaware, Chester, Philadelphia, or Montgomery .

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (commonwealth title); or
  • One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  • Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
  • You must reside in or be willing to relocate to Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Montgomery, or Philadelphia county within 6 months.
  • Enrollment and completion of designated PHMSA Training and Qualifications (T&Q) courses in Oklahoma City, OK will be required upon hire.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
