Your Opportunity Stantec has an opportunity for a highly motivated Civil Engineering to work with our staff in the Community Development and Transportation fields. The position will be based in Baton Rouge, LA. Your role is to work with guidance and direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/practices.

Requirements

  • As the successful candidate, you are a self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and take pride in your work
  • Computer literacy in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, MS Teams, Excel, and other standard office software is an asset
  • Familiarity with subdivision, site plan and/or municipal engineering drawings
  • A graduate of a College or University program, ideally in civil technology /civil engineering or related field
  • Active Engineer Intern (EI) license by Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board (LAPELS) or ability to be licensed within 6 months
  • Experience in a design, drafting or field inspection role within a land development or construction environment

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the local geographic area and area municipality design standards is an asset
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Map and GIS is an asset

Responsibilities

  • CAD drafting and design software to develop construction plans for Subdivision, Commercial, Institutional and Infrastructure projects
  • Preparing complete submission packages, design reports, supporting calculations, cost estimates, project schedules, and other duties
  • Coordinating design components with other disciplines, and possible work with other offices (possibly involving some travel)
  • Collecting field data to support engineering projects
  • Assisting with construction site observation and meetings
  • Other entry-level engineering duties as needed to support infrastructure projects.
