Stantec's New England Transportation group is looking for an entry-level Civil Engineer in Maine! We are looking for an individual that is passionate about improving our communities through the thoughtful planning and design of transportation systems and infrastructure. This person will learn about enhancing multimodal connections and designing our transportation infrastructure to be more adaptive and resilient to climate change. This role is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to work collaboratively as part of a project team and gain a better understanding of the project development process for transportation projects of varying scale and complexity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
  • Minimum of 0-1 years of professional experience
  • Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of civil design
  • Excellent organization, project management, and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and a willingness to work in a team
  • Pro-active attitude, attention to detail, desire to learn, punctual, and organized
  • Ability to work independently when required
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team
  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship experience is a plus
  • Engineering Intern Certification (Fundamentals of Engineering Exam) with the aim of obtaining full professional licensure

Responsibilities

  • Use Bentley OpenRoads Designer design software daily to support the design development process
  • Prepare design calculations and quantity take-offs for construction cost estimates
  • Perform project research and analyze/present data in tabular or graphic format
  • Contribute to engineering reports and technical studies
  • Conduct field visits during the design development process
  • Attend client, agency and public meetings to see the different phases of a project first-hand
  • Receive training and mentorship
  • Be a valued member of project teams
