About The Position

The Civil Engineer Construction Inspector will provide oversight and support for the construction and installation of equipment into the National Airspace System (NAS) as part of the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) Team for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This role involves extensive travel within the central region of the US, ensuring compliance with safety standards and effective communication among stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 4 years of experience as Project Engineer or Resident Engineer with Civil Engineering Design and Project Management experience, or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards.
  • Familiarity with shelters, roofing, communication towers, ATCT buildings, Navigational Aids, and earthwork including roads and trenching.
  • Understanding of HVAC, general building construction techniques, codes and standards, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), fire detection, and security.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of NAS facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, RCAG.
  • Familiarity with National Airspace System Equipment Building (NASEB) and National Airspace System Equipment Tower (NASET).
  • Knowledge of Corporate Work Plan (CWP) 4.1.12.

Responsibilities

  • Provide CI support to the Infrastructure Construction Installation Center in overseeing construction and installation of equipment into the NAS.
  • Participate in Engineering to Construction Hand Off meetings to ensure coordination with Engineering and project details are communicated.
  • Coordinate and participate in Pre-Construction Planning meetings with FAA, Airport Authority, Contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in Integrated Risk Management Coordination (IRMC) meetings and escalate issues to management as necessary.
  • Review and develop Cutover Plans for various systems, ensuring compliance with approved project drawings and specifications.
  • Set expectations for contractors regarding scope, cost, and schedule changes.
  • Recommend acceptance to the FAA RE/COR for GFM and CFM deliveries and test date results.
  • Visit project sites before construction to gather necessary data and complete project-related activities.
  • Ensure compliance with state, local, federal FAA standards, construction codes, and safety policies.
  • Document project progress in the FAA Weekly Construction Report, including detailed descriptions and photo logs of work performed.
