About The Position

Wiley|Wilson, with 180+ employee-owners across five offices, is looking for a motivated Civil Engineer to join our team in Richmond, Raleigh, Lynchburg, or Alexandria! This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of Local, State, and Federal Government projects while further growing your technical expertise and leadership skills. As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of civil systems including grading, drainage, utilities, and hydrology for a wide range of site development projects. You will serve as the engineer of record for smaller, less complex projects, while continuing to work under the supervision of a senior engineer on larger, more complex efforts. This position offers exposure to multiple markets and geographies, allowing you to further expand your technical expertise and deepen your understanding of building systems design. Your responsibilities will include prepare engineering and stormwater management calculations, reports, and drawings, leading field investigations, and supporting construction administration activities such as reviewing shop drawings and providing responses to RFIs. We are looking for a self-motivated professional with strong technical skills and the ability to manage tasks through various stages of design, from concept development to construction documents. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as you'll regularly interact with clients, peers, and junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia, North Carolina, or able to obtain reciprocity within three months of hire.
  • 4-6 years of progressive experience in civil/site engineering design.
  • Proficiency using Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a project team.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and able to obtain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with site development and stormwater management design.
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting processes.
  • Knowledge of state and local regulations in Virginia.
