About The Position

GAI Consultants, Inc is seeking an EIT 1 to work within our Civil and Environmental Business Sector. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment that will utilize their related experience to develop professionally and grow in today's global environment. This position is eligible for GAI’s flexible hybrid work schedules. Job Duties: Plans, designs, and facilitates civil engineer project design tasks Undertakes technical and feasibility studies. Collaborates with other professionals and discusses requirements with clients. Uses computer programs to develop detailed designs. Ensures that work products meet client, environmental, and safety requirements. Performs work under professional engineering staff. Handles basic design challenges but will refer more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses beginning knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and civil engineering design tasks. Strong team collaboration, oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills are required. This position requires local/regional travel and should be expected to be 20-40% (1-2 days per week as needed for project-related work/occasional overnight travel) Physical Requirements Ability to work indoors in professional office settings. Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks. Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment. Visual acuity to read printed materials, digital screens, detailed documents, and perform detailed work. Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment. Ability to move between workstations and attend in-person meetings. Ability to lift and carry office materials or equipment weighing up to 10-20 pounds, with or without assistance. Adequate hearing to participate in conversations, phone calls, and virtual meetings. Ability to travel for meetings, training, or business purposes. General Characteristics Possesses foundational engineering concepts through undergraduate-level education. Acquires basic knowledge and develops basic skills through mentored experience. Applies learned knowledge and skills to perform assigned tasks. Performs routine technical work which does not require previous experience.

Requirements

  • Possesses beginning knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and civil engineering design tasks.
  • Strong team collaboration, oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • This position requires local/regional travel and should be expected to be 20-40% (1-2 days per week as needed for project-related work/occasional overnight travel)
  • B.S. or M.S. Engineering
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and obtained engineer-in-training (EIT) or engineering-intern (EI) certification.
  • Possesses basic oral and written communication skills.
  • Identifies and acknowledges principles of teamwork and leadership.
  • Interacts primarily with internal project team members.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in laboratory testing and field investigations.
  • Performs basic computations or analysis.
  • Assists with preparation of engineering deliverables.
  • Observes construction activities.
  • Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope.
