About The Position

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Civil Designer to provide engineering support for the planning, design, and repair of facilities and infrastructure including pavements, foundations, drainage systems, airfields, roads, and parking areas, ensuring solutions meet applicable codes and regulatory requirements. Provides code compliant repair solutions for failing pavements, foundations, drainage, etc. for facilities, runway/taxiways, and road/parking lot infrastructure.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering desirable
10+ years of experience in civil engineering pavement (concrete & asphalt)/earth work related construction planning and application.
Be willing to submit a background check
Knowledge of design and construction of Department of Defense facilities
Knowledge of the International Building Code, NFPA Life Safety Code and Unified Facilities Criteria
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel), Adobe & AutoCAD Project Schedule)
Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills
Excellent written and communication skills
Team player, coachable & timely

Responsibilities

Develops and produces engineering specifications and cost estimates using specifications guides, engineering handbooks, building construction cost data, manufacturers publications, engineering standards for types of materials, fire and safety codes, and other published material.
Reviews engineering plans and specifications for compliance with federal and state regulations and ensures that design formats comply with applicable guidance.
Furnishes sketches and layouts supplemented by verbal or written information for preparation of drawings.
Prepares modification/alteration design specifications considering existing structures, utilities, facilities, and other considerations of projects that are not readily apparent.
Applies practical knowledge of engineering methods, techniques, architecture, and historical project data to ensure project requirements are complete.
Supports project managers and design team for development of design and construction details.
Crafts Statements of Work (SOW), specifications, conduct technical design reviews, provide technical reviews on solicitation bids, respond to construction Request for Information (RFI) from contractors.
Provides input to: Base Transportation Management Plan, Installation Development Plan, Base Barrier Plan, Pavement Condition Index inspections, structural pavement inspections, bridge inspections, reserved parking plans, airfield rubber removal and striping, road and parking lot layouts/stripping plans.
