Job Title: Civil Designer Job Location: 12301 Kurland Drive, Houston, TX 77034 Primary Function : The Civil designer will perform routine design assignments, which require knowledge and skill in basic design techniques and procedures, under close supervision. Drafting will comprise a large portion of job responsibility. Thorough knowledge of CAD will be required.

Requirements

• Associates degree in drafting & Design is required.
• Extensive experience in drafting disciplines with a background in civil / structural or transmission design is strongly preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2010 or newer is required.
• Possess skills in the following areas: Civil drafting experience for structural substation and transmission line projects is preferred
• Word processing, spread sheet, and e-mail software
• Mathematics, including algebra and basic trigonometry
• Extensive knowledge of various CADD programs
• Basic knowledge of the major components of a substation
• Basic oral and written communications
• Basic knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation
• Working in a team environment
• Communicating effectively with co-workers
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Microstation or PLS-CADD is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Produce new drawings from examples of previous projects and/or standards with some supervision
• Research information in catalogues, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference material
• Calculate structure heights and weights, concrete volumes, equipment fit-up, or other basic tasks
• Learn and properly use the document management system
• Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices
• Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
• Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party
• Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments
• Other duties as required
