About The Position

Olsson provides multidisciplinary design services for mixed-use, commercial, and residential land development projects, along with industrial, sports, schools, and other site development types. As a Lead Civil Designer, you will be responsible for leading quality assurance/quality control for the team, providing senior level design review for the team, and attending client meetings. You will direct and manage project staff on technical aspects of projects. You may also travel to job sites at different stages in construction and work in all types of terrain and weather conditions. Olsson currently has growth opportunities for our Site Design group. This role offers flexible work options, including remote and hybrid opportunities, to accommodate diverse working preferences and promote work-life balance. Candidates can work hybrid schedules, work remotely, or work out of any Olsson office location in these regions/areas. Applicants should have the ability to travel for in-office activities, client and site visits as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team
  • Associate Degree in Drafting
  • 10 years of CAD software experience (AutoCAD Civil 3d)
  • Project Management skills for medium-sized projects

Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages staff on technical aspects of projects including coordination with all disciplines involved on projects.
  • Plans and oversees the quality review process of project deliverables.
  • Provides a consultative resource to clients for project resolution.
  • Strengthens and further develops subject matter expertise in certain design areas.
  • Provides senior-level design review for various projects on the team and acts as a resource for technical issues.
  • May assist in the preparation of project studies by completing drawings, sketching, or acquiring data.
  • Promotes efficiencies in producing quality work.
  • Supervises and reviews assignments of less experienced staff.
