About The Position

In the role of Civil Construction Inspector (Highways & Roads), we'll count on you to perform various functions and responsibilities. You will assist the Resident Engineer in all aspects of required field and office engineering work, including inspection of non-structural construction operations, traffic control system compliance, contract change order preparation, review, and analysis, and enforcement of the Water Pollution Control Program. You will also review, inspect, and approve traffic control systems in accordance with Caltrans standards and requirements. This position requires knowledge and experience with equipment used in roadway construction inspection, surveying, field testing of construction materials, and construction office engineering. Additionally, you will need to be proficient with computer applications and software programs such as Microsoft Office and Critical Path Method software. Effective communication and supervision skills are essential, as well as knowledge of labor compliance and subcontracting laws. You will also assist Resident Engineers in preparation for Dispute Review Board meetings and claims documentation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in highway/roadway construction inspection.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Successful passing of drug-screening procedures prior to hiring.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in highway/roadway construction inspection.
  • Experience on Caltrans projects.
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules.
