In the role of Civil Construction Inspector II, we'll count on you to: In the role of Civil Construction Inspector (Highways & Roads), we'll count on you to perform the following functions & responsibilities: Capable of assisting the Resident Engineer in all aspects of required field and office engineering work including but not limited to the following: inspection of non-structura1 construction operations; inspection of traffic control system compliance; contract change order (CCO) preparation, review, and analysis; and Water Pollution Control Program (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan) enforcement. Capable of reviewing, inspecting, and approving traffic control systems, including lane closures, in accordance with Caltrans standards and requirements. Personnel reviewing, inspecting, and approving traffic control system work shall have one (1) year demonstrated experience in such work. Knowledge and experience with equipment used in roadway construction inspection, surveying, field testing of construction materials, and construction office engineering. Knowledge of computers, computer applications, and computer software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others); Critical Path Method (CPM) software such as Primavera Project Planner (P3, P6) and SureTrak, or any updated version, as a minimum; Scheduler Analyzer Pro; and Microsoft Project. Knowledge and experience with principles of effective communication and supervision. Knowledge and experience with monitoring labor compliance. Knowledge of subcontracting laws and policies. Knowledge and experience with Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) and Small Business requirements including determining Commercially Useful Function (CUF) of a contractor or material supplier Knowledge and experience with the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program and the General Permit. Knowledge of Caltrans Standard Plans, Standard Specifications, and Construction Manual, Proper background clearance, as necessary, when performing work on or near the rail system. Experience assisting Resident Engineers in preparation of the Dispute Review Board (DRB) and Dispute Resolution Advisor (DRA) position papers and meetings. Experience in assisting Resident Engineers to respond to preliminary claim findings and preparation for Dispute Review Board (DRB) and Dispute Resolution Advisor (DRA). Experience in preparation of Claims files, documents and reports. Knowledge and experience in keeping complete, accurate, and concise records of the work and quantities. Perform other duties as needed
