About The Position

Central Southern Construction is seeking a detail-oriented Civil Construction Estimator to support our growing heavy civil and sitework operations. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for civil infrastructure projects, including earthwork, utilities, grading, asphalt, concrete, and related scopes.

Requirements

• 2+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil, sitework, underground utilities, paving, or DOT work (preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, and contracts
• Strong math skills and understanding of materials, labor, and equipment costs
• Proficiency in Excel and estimating tools (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Planswift, Agtek, Trimble, or similar)
• Strong communication and organization skills
• Ability to manage multiple bids and tight deadlines

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil and sitework projects (public and private)
• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop complete bid packages
• Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, pipe, structures, paving, concrete, and materials
• Request and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes
• Develop pricing for labor, equipment, trucking, materials, and subcontracted scopes
• Identify project risks, scope gaps, and constructability concerns
• Collaborate with project management and field operations to ensure accurate production rates and bid strategies
• Maintain estimate files, bid logs, and supporting documentation
• Support post-bid handoff and project start-up when awarded
