About The Position

The Kodiak Trial Court of the Alaska Court System is looking for a highly dependable individual to become a Court Case Manager 1 civil clerk (salary range 10). This job classification may promote to salary range 11 after successful completion of three years of service with the court. In this position you will perform a wide variety of case management duties for civil, probate, small claims, and children's cases. You can expect to accept filings, set up case files, receipt filing fees, review filings for completeness, issue summons, enter data into the case management system, and route files accordingly. You will be responsible for issuing pretrial orders for dissolution and divorce cases and when appropriate, complete certificate of divorce/dissolution and distribute decrees and child support orders to all parties and CSSD. Other duties will include processing domestic violence cases and sanity commitment cases, accepting wills and registrations of trust, and assisting the public with withdrawing wills. This position will perform some front counter duties that include responding to a variety of questions in person and by phone concerning court procedures, Alaska Statutes, and Rules of Court. You will examine and purge closed files, box up files, tapes and address boxes for Micrographics.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate.
  • One year of office clerical experience.
  • Ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).
  • Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.
  • Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.
  • Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.
