About The Position

The Civil CAD Drafter at Stanford University's Land, Buildings & Real Estate (LBRE) department serves as a technical expert in the collection, production, and presentation of engineering quality geospatial information. This role involves preparing drawings for utility construction and maintenance projects, utilizing advanced CAD software, and collaborating with various stakeholders to support the university's infrastructure needs. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong technical expertise in Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with Autodesk products.
  • Comprehensive understanding of underground utility locating equipment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD programming languages, specifically LISP and VBA.
  • Customer-oriented with the ability to lead a team and work effectively with management, staff, and clients.
  • Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and email communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with drone technology for data collection.
  • Knowledge of construction drawing sets and utility maps.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare drawings for in-house utility construction, utility maintenance, and civil design projects.
  • Become proficient in Open Spatial Software for ongoing utility updates.
  • Design products to assist customers of Maps and Records, including operational maps and presentations.
  • Utilize drone-collected visual data for civil and underground utility updating.
  • Provide CAD-related training and support for team members.
  • Represent Stanford University in internal and external communications regarding campus infrastructure.
  • Conduct field data collection and provide utility support during high volume periods.
