The GFY team is seeking a Civil CAD Designer who is interested in being part of an influential work environment. This position will primarily report to mid-level and senior engineers to assist with engineering and technical disciplines, including site design, roadway, utilities, stormwater, and construction observation. This role will assist with preliminary and conceptual design and production of construction drawings and details. This position will work alongside experts in all civil engineering disciplines, where mentorship plays a vital role in your professional development.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the civil engineering field
  • Experience in civil design for private land development and government projects required.
  • 3+ years of experience with Civil 3D.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Must be knowledgeable in basic construction practices for civil/structural fieldwork and have the ability to generate drawings for engineers and make suggestions for further development.
  • Excellent analytical and math skills are a must.
  • Must have effective written, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills to be able to work well in teams.

Nice To Haves

  • ORD experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Produce plans and required deliverables on assigned projects on time and within budget.
  • Follow supervisor’s lead on procedures, calculations, regulatory requirements, and engineering practices.
  • Develop complex engineering drawings and be able to prepare designs and estimates from general instruction and/or preliminary sketches, diagrams, or schematics.
  • Recommend modifications and changes for design improvement and simplification and prepare working drawings from conceptual layouts to detailed finished products.
  • Coordinate CAD projects with other discipline personnel, and prepare/assemble project deliverables, as well as develop basic to mid-level designs/layouts, and prepare basic design calculations.
