Your Opportunity Stantec is looking for an entry level aviation engineer to join our Airports team in the Columbus, Ohio office. The Civil Engineer will focus on supporting planning, design, and construction projects related to airport infrastructure. The successful candidate will perform engineering work requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria under close supervision, and will carry out related civil engineering tasks such as preparation of plans, designs, calculations, and cost estimates in accordance with established codes and standards.

Requirements

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word and Excel.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Ability to work in groups or alone.
  • Good communication skills, attentiveness to detail, and multi-tasking ability.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and interface with multiple project managers.
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering is required
  • Minimum of 0-3 years' experience, experience in airport or highway design a plus
  • Engineer-in-Training certificate preferred or ability to obtain in six (6) months is preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Bentley MicroStation and Open Roads Designer a plus.
  • Engineer-in-Training certificate preferred or ability to obtain in six (6) months is preferred
  • experience in airport or highway design a plus

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of lead engineer, assist with the preparation of construction plans, estimates, and other deliverables for airport projects.
  • Prepare project designs and deliverables in compliance to documented commitments, standards, and for quality assurance.
  • Work with design team to complete assignments.
  • Work with design team to track project scopes, schedules, budgets.
  • Follow all in-house procedures related to documentation of designs, process flow, filing, etc.
  • Assist with bid coordination and construction administration.
  • Communicate with design team and eventually clients and review agencies.
  • Attend and document project/client meetings with agendas and/or notes/minutes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
