The Rita Allen Civic Science Fellow, working with the Science Incubator Lab, is a full-time, 18-month fellowship position. This role focuses on evidence-based approaches to communicating about science within polarized political or information environments. The fellow is specifically encouraged to explore methods for depolarizing policy-relevant debates concerning biomedical science. Envisioned as a Civic Science Lab, Fellows and partners will undertake pioneering work to co-create pilots, partnerships, knowledge, models, and new operational strategies to foster collaborations between science and society. All Fellows will participate in a cohort-based learning program and community, developed in conjunction with the network and an interdisciplinary advisory committee. One Fellow will be embedded in the Science Communication Incubator Lab (SCI Lab), while another will be embedded in the Community Engagement group. Both the SCI Lab and Community Engagement teams collaborate to develop research-informed science engagement programs that bridge the scientific enterprise with the public.
