About The Position

ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT FULL-TIME ANNUALLY PAID PARKS EMPLOYEES NYC Parks Workforce Development administers various employment programs throughout the Agency, and provides onboarding, on-the-job training, career coaching and specialized training opportunities to trainees in the Parks Opportunity Program (POP). Major Responsibilities - Under close supervision, provide well-structured, well-supervised training and assignments for seasonal employees in subject areas directed by Workforce Development. - Provide instruction in general maintenance work, including lawn mowing, edging, seeding, snow removal, cultivating, fertilizing and hedge trimming, sweeping, and raking leaves and litter and emptying receptacles. - Provide instruction in cleaning and maintaining various surfaces and facilities, such as comfort stations. - Assign tasks in all subject areas and ensure that employees can perform duties satisfactorily. Provide regular feedback both to employees and supervision regarding employee progress. - Monitor the distribution of tools, supplies and clothing to employees. Alert Supervisor about status changes in inventory. - Drive vehicles and operate other motorized equipment. Perform safety checks on facilities and equipment. - Regularly report work productivity, performance and disciplinary issues, accidents, and incidents to Workforce Development Park Supervisor 1. - Take appropriate action, record activity and outcomes, run reports and schedule appointments in the POP Database daily. Requirements

  • There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position.
  • A Motor Vehicle Driver's License valid in the State of New York is required.
  • Ability to read and to understand and obey orders is required.
  • There are certain medical and physical requirements.
