About The Position

The City of Reidsville is seeking Police Officer Cadets/Trainees to perform general law enforcement duties aimed at protecting life and property. This role involves attending classes at an approved Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy while assisting with various administrative and operational tasks within the Police Department. Cadets will engage with the community and support police operations, ensuring adherence to departmental policies and legal standards.

Requirements

• Must be at least 20 years old upon graduation of the B.L.E.T academy and taking the state exam.
• Ability to build and maintain cooperative and effective public relations with citizens.
• Must be enrolled in B.L.E.T. or meet the standards set by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Council for certification as a law enforcement officer.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.
• Successful completion of a thorough pre-employment background check, physical exam, psychological exam, and drug screen.

• Graduation from high school supplemented by courses in police science, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Attend part-time or full-time classes at an approved Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy in North Carolina.
• Assist in administrative support duties within the Police Department.
• Perform tasks such as typing, operating computer equipment, filing, and answering telephones.
• Provide assistance at the front counter or desk position.
• Assist in the maintenance of Police facilities and vehicles.
• Direct traffic as needed.
• Perform other required duties as assigned by supervisors or department personnel.
