About The Position

City Facility Supervisor, Seasonal This position will be based out of the Drake Elliot Park workstation and help oversee individuals along the lakeshore in busy Zone 5. Experience requirement is 2 years in outdoor facility, grounds, and park maintenance Summary Under the direction of the Park Supervisor or Designee, the Facility Supervisor I (Lead Worker) serve as a frontline coordinator for seasonal operations. This position performs and oversees a variety of semi-skilled manual tasks in the maintenance of City cemeteries, park grounds, buildings, and roadways. The Lead Worker is responsible for guiding small crews, ensuring task completion, and maintaining high standards of safety and public service.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2 years of leadership in outdoor facilities, grounds, and landscaping background. Must have verified experience in the operation of 4x4 ATVs, mobile carts, 1-ton dump trucks, and vehicle/trailer combinations.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Math & Reasoning: Ability to perform mathematical operations involving U.S. currency, weights, and volume. Ability to interpret complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Digital Literacy: Proficiency in using modern technology, including smartphone apps for wayfinding, work-order reporting, and information research.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform strenuous manual labor in various weather conditions.
  • Age/Legal: Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Background: Must pass a criminal background investigation and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Schedule: Must be available for a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Adaptability: Must be willing to switch gears on daily assignments and priority project pop-ups.

Responsibilities

  • Crew Leadership: Coordinate daily task assignments for seasonal caretakers; provide on-site guidance to ensure work is completed efficiently and safely.
  • Grounds Oversight: Perform and oversee turf maintenance, including precision mowing, trimming, edging, and leaf removal using hand and power equipment.
  • Facility Coordination: Lead the setup/teardown of City-sponsored events; coordinate the placement of trash barrels, liners, and picnic tables based on event logistics.
  • Guest Relations: Act as a primary point of contact for pavilion reservations; meet with guests, swap signage, and ensure all reservation logistics are met.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Oversee the painting of picnic tables, signs, and bleachers; manage restroom sanitation schedules and stock levels at all work locations.
  • Safety & Inspections: Conduct safety observations of playgrounds (raking EWF, clearing walkways); identify and report complex safety hazards to the Supervisor.
  • Logistics & Transport: Operate City pick-up trucks, 1-ton dump trucks, and trailers to transport tools, equipment, and personnel between sites.
  • Equipment Stewardship: Ensure all hand and power tools receive preventative maintenance; ensure the seasonal fleet is kept clean, organized, and properly stored.
  • Beach Prep: Oversee the day-to-day operations of playgrounds, boardwalks, grounds, and facilities.
  • Seasonal Transitions: Coordinate the installation/removal of snow fencing and seasonal sand removal operations.
