About The Position

Under the supervision of the Park Supervisor or Designee, performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual tasks in the maintenance of City cemeteries, park grounds, buildings, and roadways.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Must be able to satisfactorily pass driving record and background investigations.
Must be able to work some evenings, weekends, holidays, and be available on short notice.
Possession of a High School Diploma or its equivalent is desired.
Must be experienced in the operation of 4 x 4 ATVs & mobile carts, 1-ton dump operations, and vehicle operation.
No software skills needed; however, researching information on your cell phone is important.
Use of modern technology, apps, and wayfinding is also important.

Responsibilities

Cut grass using a power mower and trimmer, and push and/or riding mower.
Rake leaves with hand and power equipment.
Water the grass using hoses and sprinklers.
Edging sidewalks, with hand tools and power equipment.
Assist with setup and teardown of City-sponsored and Recreation Department events. With requested City Services, especially but not limited to, trash barrels, liners, and picnic tables.
Maintain stock at work locations and pipe alleys, and keep work areas clean.
Pick up fallen tree limbs and twigs.
Trims brush as needed.
Picks up and collects litter. Empties trash cans.
Clean restrooms.
Prep pavilions, swap signage, meet guests, and check on reservation logistics.
Painting picnic tables, signs, bleachers, and other buildings logistics.
Performs preventative maintenance on power and hand tools.
May be assigned to drive a City pick-up and small dump truck, assigned to utilize trailers to transport tools, equipment, and/or personnel.
May be assigned to assist City workers and other departments.
Installs and removes snow fence.
Sand removal, by hand tools or power equipment.
Minor safety observations of playgrounds, raking EWF into place, shoveling sand to walkways, and notifying supervisor of safety issues.
Will require shift and weekend ends.
Prepare softball and baseball fields.
Keep vehicles cleaned and organized. Put away equipment at the end of the shift.
Could be reassigned to different departments as necessary.
