About The Position

The purpose of this job is to participate in the day-to-day activities of a BiG campus by providing a safe, secure, and caring environment for our Citizens. The candidate is responsible for running a workroom and setting an excellent example of work ethic to both volunteers and Citizens. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Act with integrity and be a role model for ethical behavior, is consistent and fair when dealing with others. Upholds our Core Values. Provide for daily needs, adaptations, and general wellness of Citizens. This includes creating a meaningful, positive environment and adapting the work and social environment to set the Citizens up for success. Monitor the general well-being of Citizens during the workday and communicate their needs for support with the Lead Citizen Supervisor. Always being aware and present when with Citizens, looking for situations that may require intervention Responsible for submitting payroll hours including PTO and unpaid leave via payroll platform.. Participate in weekly staff meetings as well as one-on-one meeting with the Lead Citizen Supervisor, providing and accepting feedback to help improve the program. Responsible for running a daily workroom which includes setting it up in the morning and breaking it down at the end of the day. This may include loading and unloading kilns if working with pottery, acquiring a food handler's license if working with food, and/or prepping enterprises behind the scenes specific to your campus. Work with and help train volunteers on enterprises and adapting the environment for our Citizens. This also includes overseeing volunteers assigned to their daily team. Facilitate Citizen breaks and lunch-this is not a time to be on your phone, but to be engaging with Citizens in games, activities or conversation Assist in writing and leading devotionals. Maintenance and cleaning of facility and grounds as needed Help with new product design and implementation. Represent BiG as requested at special events such as venues, community outreach, transition fairs and fundraisers. Responsible for any additional area/task as directed by Lead Citizen Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Prefer undergraduate degree in psychology, sociology, human services, or special education with at least 1 years' experience working with adults with disabilities.
  • Candidates should possess personal characteristics such as patience, tolerance, and a willingness to learn more about specific disabilities and adapt expectations.
  • Candidates must have a strong sense of serving and caring for the needs of adults with functional disabilities in their care.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate documents such as safety procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively and motivate employees at all levels in the Community.
  • Candidates should have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of individual behavioral issues while maintaining control of a group setting.
  • Incumbents must possess a minimum of a valid driver's license from the State of Texas.
  • employee is frequently required to communicate by listening or writing.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; stoop; kneel; bend; crouch; crawl; and climb stairs.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. when transferring a Citizen to and from wheelchair.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with sign language is a strong plus.
  • Consideration given to those with CPR and first aid.
