Ready to support them in developing their leadership skills and camp counselor attitude? We’re looking for a Program Coordinator for our Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Program to set the positive and enthusiastic tone, build and deliver the CIT program utilizing materials from previous years, and oversee program operations. The CIT Program Coordinator is a member of our Camp Leadership Team, and spends several hours a day assisting with Camp Operations in addition to their CIT responsibilities. The CIT Coordinator reports to the Camp Director. Location: Waynflete School | 360 Spring Street | Portland, ME Compensation: $22.50 - $24 / hour based on experience. Dates of Employment: 8 week commitment, weeks noted below Pre-Camp Training: Exact dates & times TBD - week of June 15, 2026 Camp Weeks: 6/23, 6/30, 7/7, 7/14, 7/21, 7/28 Post-Camp Breakdown: Exact dates & times TBD - week of August 3, 2026 Camp is closed on 6/19 and 7/3 in observation of Juneteenth and Independence Day Camp Hours: Camp Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday CIT Coordinator Hours: ~ 7:45am to 3:45pm daily Leadership Team meetings weekly

Requirements

  • 21+ years of age
  • 2+ years of experience working with children in a camp or school setting (ages 12-16)
  • Experience in a leadership role in a similar setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High level of organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Able to manage risks and operate with a safety mindset
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified
  • Comfortable handling basic First Aid/medical needs
  • Comfortable leading campers and staff using best practices in group management, including: clear communication of behavioral expectations, supporting the participation and success of all campers, and navigating misbehaviors
  • Able to communicate with parents/guardians in a clear, calm and professional manner
  • Previous experience with diverse populations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in using Google Suite and CampBrain (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Camp Leadership Team to: Design and deliver a daily CIT program schedule (including team building exercises, leadership skill sessions, and other daily tasks) with special attention to shared spaces and resources.
  • Provide in the moment feedback and coaching to support growth opportunities for the CITs.
  • Inventory and procure all supplies needed within budget.
  • Communicate about camper behavior, injuries or other incidents.
  • Lead lessons with enthusiasm, creativity and professionalism.
  • Supervise and guide campers throughout the camp day.
  • Supervise and direct campers arriving late or leaving early from camp.
  • Manage program specific operations including camper attendance, daily camp schedule, field trips, and morning meetings.
  • Complete morning prep and end of day clean up responsibilities.
  • Work closely with the Auxiliary Programs Coordinator to: Handle sensitive and confidential information while compiling necessary reports for camp programs.
  • Create weekly reports, review forms, and assist with additional administrative tasks as deemed necessary.
  • Work closely with Camp Director to: Communicate issues, concerns, and ideas for improving camp operations in a timely manner.
  • Meet regularly to discuss general operations of campus and CIT program successes and challenges.
  • Lead by example in respect and care for the community and campus.
  • Present a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Keep the safety of campers and the camp team in mind at all times.
  • Attend all required leadership and staff meetings and pre-season training sessions.
