About The Position

The Cisco Unified Communications Engineer II position at the University of Maryland Medical System involves assisting in the implementation and management of a large enterprise multi-clustered Cisco Unified Communications (UC) infrastructure. The role focuses on providing daily operational support for various telephony systems, including Cisco Call Manager, UCCX, Unity, and Jabber, while also supporting hybrid PBX/VoIP solutions. The engineer will participate in site readiness assessments, deployments, and cutovers, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with various teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• At least 4 years of experience in installing and troubleshooting in a Unified Communication environment.
• Hands-on technical knowledge of Call Manager and Endpoints.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, customer service, and analytical skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with project management and representation in ongoing projects and meetings.
• Ability to work with potentially hazardous tools and power equipment safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily operational support for Enterprise Cisco Call Manager, UCCX, Unity, Jabber, VCS, and other telephony-related systems.
• Assist in infrastructure systems maintenance and upgrades.
• Support hybrid traditional PBX/VoIP solutions.
• Provide input and recommendations to staff and management regarding potential problem areas and necessary policy modifications.
• Assist in developing test plans and follow proper escalation procedures to minimize outages.
