About The Position

As a highly-skilled Circulating Nurse in the OR you will provide excellent patient care to individuals during operative and invasive procedures. Under the direction of the OR Manager you will work with other members of the team to ensure the operating room is adequately prepared for procedures. Requirements

  • Registered Nurse
  • Associate Degree
  • Past experience as a Operating Room Nurse REQUIRED

Responsibilities

  • Perform general nursing duties and be competent in all OR procedures as verified by specific competencies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to facilitate smooth and efficient room turnover and patient flow.
  • Complete all paperwork and computer charting to ensure accurate and timely charting and patient charges occur.
  • Anticipate and meet the needs of the surgeon based on previous experience.
  • Ensure Pre-op Checklist is complete (H&P present, informed consent signed, test results present, etc.) before patient is taken into surgical suite.
  • Be consistently ready and prepared for assigned cases.
  • Respond appropriately to the patient in an emergency or physically distressful situation.
  • Facilitate communications between patient, surgeon, OR staff, family, and other departments as needed.
  • Give a thorough report of patient's intraoperative condition to PACU nurse.
  • Follow patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures.
  • Act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure.
