About The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Director of Pharmacy Regulatory Compliance to join the Cigna Pharmacy Management team . This role will lead our compliance operations and ensure adherence to regulatory standards across our pharmacy services. This role is responsible for managing a high-performing compliance team, driving strategic regulatory planning, and overseeing first-line compliance activities that support operational integrity and risk mitigation. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of pharmacy regulations, strong leadership capabilities, and a collaborative mindset to foster a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (e.g., JD, MBA, PharmD) preferred.
  • 5+ years plus of experience in healthcare or pharmacy compliance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of pharmacy regulations, including CMS, DEA, FDA, and state boards of pharmacy.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex compliance programs.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of compliance professionals. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth while ensuring team alignment with organizational goals.
  • Strategic Regulatory Planning: Monitor evolving requirements including critical state government trends, proposed legislation, regulations, and industry issues that proactively address risks and support business objectives.
  • First-Line Compliance Operations: Oversee day-to-day compliance activities including audits, monitoring, issue management, and reporting needs. Ensure timely identification, escalation, and resolution of compliance risks across pharmacy operations.
  • Policy & Procedure Management: Maintain and enhance compliance policies, procedures, and controls to ensure alignment with federal, state, and industry standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with legal, operations, technology, and business teams to ensure compliance is embedded into processes and decision-making.
  • Cultivate Innovative Governance Solutions: Lead regulatory oversight to promote best practices and consistency in regulatory reporting and other evidence-based efforts, including strategic ideation, development, negotiation, and maintenance for all activities.
  • Training & Awareness: Lead the development and delivery of compliance training programs to promote awareness and understanding of regulatory obligations across the organization.
  • Senior Leadership Engagement: Provide information related to current legislative, regulatory, and other government activities to senior leaders as appropriate and communicate effectively with enterprise partners.
