About The Position

The CIC Technician is responsible for the safe preparation, transport, deployment, inspection, and reinstallation of cable systems at airport and field locations. This role supports cable repair and installation projects by ensuring all materials are handled correctly, safety procedures are followed, and project documentation is completed accurately. The position involves physically demanding outdoor work and requires effective communication and coordination with supervisors and team members.

Requirements

  • Experience in cable handling, field operations, construction, utilities, or related industries preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Experience operating trucks, trailers, hoists, or other lifting equipment preferred.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and handle materials weighing approximately 50–75 pounds.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varied weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain).
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to read and follow written procedures, safety guidelines, and work orders.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Review assigned work orders to confirm materials, specifications, and job locations.
  • Locate and verify cable reels and materials using inventory tracking systems.
  • Safely load, secure, and transport cable reels using trucks, trailers, hoists, and lifting equipment.
  • Ensure all loads are properly secured to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
  • Transport materials to and from airport and field locations in compliance with company and safety regulations.
  • Unload cable reels and set up spooling trailers at job sites.
  • Position and deploy pipe and cable systems according to work order requirements.
  • Set up, secure, and operate clamping apparatus to stabilize pipe and cable during operations.
  • Assist with removing damaged pipe sections using controlled pulling techniques to expose cables.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas during all pulling and lifting activities.
  • Inspect exposed cables for signs of damage, wear, or defects, including frays, cuts, and abrasions.
  • Immediately report any cable irregularities or damage to the supervisor.
  • Coil cables neatly and uniformly to prepare for duct reinsertion.
  • Assist with reinserting cables into ducts using approved pulling methods and equipment.
  • Securely load repaired cable reels onto trucks and trailers for return transport.
  • Complete all required documentation, including work orders, inspection logs, and repair details.
  • Verify customer and shipping information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Offload materials at the facility and organize reels for final customer shipment.
  • Submit all completed documentation to management to support timely and accurate order processing.
  • Follow all company, site-specific, and airport safety procedures at all times.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety boots, high-visibility apparel, and hard hats.
  • Exercise caution when operating vehicles, hoists, and lifting equipment.
  • Ensure all personnel remain clear of work areas during pulling and lifting activities.
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings, equipment movement, and changing site conditions.
