About The Position

The Kettle Assistant position exists to further the mission of the Salvation Army by supporting bell ringing and other logistical needs related to our annual Christmas campaign.

Requirements

  • Must be of good moral character and able to interact in a friendly and compassionate manner.
  • Candidates must have a passion for fulfilling the mission of The Salvation Army and must be articulate in presenting the same to others.
  • Candidates must successfully pass the pre-employment background inquiry and annual motor vehicle check with a valid driver’s license.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. Significant Customer service-based experiences will be considered in lieu of.
  • Team player, self-starter, and perform well with minimal supervision.
  • Must have an interest and ability to work with people of diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds in a sensitive and culturally appropriate manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and work as a cooperative team member.
  • Must be able to workdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Typing skills necessary. Previous database experience helpful. Will be required to learn kettle management database and systems. Must be comfortable around computers and learning new computer software.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for data entry and complete usage of the Territorial platform (Register to Ring) to coordinate kettle sites, scheduling such as daily routes, entering kettle totals daily, payroll for paid bell ringers and thanking volunteer groups.
  • Assist with the transportation of kettles and bell ringers to assigned locations.
  • Assist in fielding phone calls/inquiries pertaining to kettle operations from bell ringers, kettle sites, kettle drivers and others.
  • In association with corps officers, ensure that any kettle issues are addressed.
  • Help with the sorting of kettle funds and delivery to the bank when needed.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous demeanor, and professional and appropriate communication practices.
  • Maintain compliance in The Salvation Army’s 'Safe from Harm' Certification.
  • Perform other related and special duties as needed and assigned by supervisor.
