About The Position

Directly responsible for assisting in the daily operations of lamination which also includes spraying resin and hand laying small parts. Meeting facility goals regarding safety, quality and on-time delivery of products from one department to the next. This role requires attention to detail and technical skills in operating spray equipment.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in setting up, operating, and maintaining chopper guns.
  • Ability to mix resins and catalysts to the correct ratios.
  • Skills in cleaning and preparing molds and surfaces before applying fiberglass.
  • Knowledge of proper spraying techniques to ensure an even and smooth finish
  • Ability to apply fiberglass evenly and accurately to avoid defects.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent level of training
  • Some knowledge of FRP and composites
  • Knowledge of production process and quality control
  • Effective problem solving, team and interpersonal skills used to influence others to accomplish identified objectives
  • Working knowledge of all processes and procedures required to perform all functions within the department.
  • Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally.
  • Must be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb into and out of the interior of boats.
  • Must be able to wear respirator.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Be able to drive a forklift when necessary.
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.
  • Employees in safety-sensitive positions must report to work fit for duty and must remain fit for duty throughout their workday.
  • To be fit for duty, the employee must not be impaired by alcohol, illicit drugs, or medication.

Responsibilities

  • Able to identify the different small parts to be laminated.
  • Mixing resins and catalysts to the correct ratios
  • Operating the chopper gun to apply fiberglass and resin mixtures evenly over the mold
  • Adjust spray settings to achieve the desired thickness and finish.
  • Inspect applied layers for uniformity and thickness.
  • Performing touch-ups and repairs as needed to ensure a smooth finish.
  • Inspects all parts so that they are complete and up to quality standards.
  • Support all safety initiatives and maintain a high awareness of safety in the facility.
  • Provide a safe work environment and that legal and safety standards are being met by the company and employees
  • Operate in compliance of all local, state and federal laws

  • Any other duties as assigned by management.
  • Must comply with all OSHA and safety procedures.
