About The Position

The Chop Gun Operator is responsible for the accurate and safe application of fiberglass and resin materials using a chop gun to mold boat parts according to production requirements.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • General math skills required.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate chop gun equipment to spray fiberglass and resin into molds.
  • Apply layers of chopped fiberglass to molds with the proper mill gauge to build up thickness according to specifications.
  • Monitor the curing process and ensure materials are applied evenly and consistently.
  • Clean, maintain, and perform minor repairs on the chop gun and related equipment.
  • Inspect molds and final laminated products for defects or inconsistencies.
  • Ability to perform job functions safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment while wearing all required PPE and following safety policy.
  • Must practice good housekeeping by keeping work areas clean at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
