About The Position

We are looking for an overall chipset engineering lead with Power Systems focus for Client Compute (PC, Tablet) and Gaming Chipsets. A chipset comprises multiple chips that together perform the functions of a compute device (such as Application Processor, PMICs, Audio, Connectivity, etc.), as well as the associated software, firmware and reference hardware. Responsible for the overall planning and execution of system power optimization across our portfolio of Compute and Gaming Chipsets through all phases from concept to commercialization across diverse engineering teams. Responsibilities include setting power budgets to ensure competitiveness, assessing chipset and system level use case power, influencing designs and planning features to minimize system power while maintaining performance targets, and ensuring power targets are met. Works closely with Product Management, Chipset Project Engineers, domain specific Project Engineers and leads, Customer Engineering, Program Management, and Customers. Responsible for clearly communicating power goals and status to executives and chipset teams. Works in a highly matrixed environment. This role frequently requires working with others to fulfill job responsibilities without direct authority

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 10+ years of Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 9+ years of Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in one or more areas of semiconductor product development.
  • 5+ years in a technical leadership role.

Nice To Haves

  • 15+ years of experience in one or more areas of semiconductor product development (e.g., system design, architecture, silicon design and validation, SW development and test).
  • 10+ years of experience in a system power lead role influencing silicon, software, and hardware
  • 5+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
  • 5+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with executive leadership.
  • Prior experience in the PC or gaming industry

Responsibilities

  • Leverages expert knowledge to set competitive system power budgets, define power related features, and influence chipset development, system architecture, firmware/software, and reference hardware development to meet these targets.
  • Assess, document, and report chipset and system-level usecase power and battery life across the phases of a program
  • Oversees the resolution of all power related issues on the chipsets whether within a specific subsystem, or across subsystems, functions, and chipset components.
  • Outlines schedules, costs, and power/performance tradeoffs for power related features
  • Sets guidelines for writing detailed technical documentation and feature descriptions; writes and reviews documentation.
  • Interacts with customers frequently, delivering technical presentations as well as collecting feedback to integrate as appropriate
