About The Position

This role involves operating a Grapples Loader and Chipping Machine to process logs and logging waste into wood chips. The operator is responsible for adjusting the speed and opening of feed rolls based on log diameter, activating feed rolls to push logs through the chipper unit, and monitoring gauges to prevent equipment strain. The position also requires replacing defective chipping knives using specific tools and controlling the debarker. A key aspect is performing and completing all preventative maintenance tasks at the start of each shift, communicating equipment deficiencies to the team and management, and ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal codes and regulations. Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Operates Grapples Loader and Chipping Machine to Reduce Logs and Logging Waste to Wood Chips.
  • Adjusts Speed and Opening of Feed Rolls According to Log Diameter, and Activates Feed Rolls that pushes Logs through Chipper Unit.
  • Monitors Gauges and Adjusts Speed and Opening of Feed Rolls to Prevent Equipment Strain.
  • Replaces Defective Chipping Knives, Using Wrenches and Feeler Gauges.
  • Control Opening of Debarker that Removes Bark from Log Before Chipping.
  • Performs and Completes All Items Listed on Preventative Maintenance Sheets at the Beginning of each Shift.
  • Effectively Communicate to All Team Members and Management Any Equipment Deficiencies.
  • Ensure Workers Adhere to Local, State and Federal Codes and Regulations.
  • Perform Other Related Duties as Assigned.
