About The Position

The Chinese (Mandarin) Immersion Teacher position is located in the Five College area of Hadley/Amherst, Massachusetts, and requires in-person teaching at PVCICS. The role involves planning, developing, and implementing class curriculum compliant with state standards under the supervision of the Principal or designee. The teacher will develop and teach content-based immersion curriculum in core subject areas including math, science, social studies, and Chinese Language Arts. The position also includes providing direct services to students, consulting with other professionals, and engaging with parents to discuss student progress and instructional outcomes.

Requirements

• Fluent (native or near native proficiency) in Mandarin Chinese.
• BS or Master's degree.
• Eligible to work in a MA charter school (pass MTEL licensing tests within a year of hire or hold a current MA elementary teaching license).

Responsibilities

• Planning, developing, and implementing class curriculum compliant with state standards.
• Developing and teaching content-based immersion curriculum in core subject areas.
• Providing direct services to students and consulting with other professionals.
• Meeting and discussing issues with parents regarding student progress.
• Assessing and documenting student progress toward curricular goals.
• Using multiple measures for formative and summative assessments.
• Documenting and maintaining accurate records of students' academic performance.
• Performing other duties similar to those of other teachers as assigned by administration.
