About The Position

Applications are invited by Williams College for the Chinese Language Fellow (Intern) position for the 2026-2027 academic year. Applicants should have native fluency in Mandarin; possess relevant teaching experience; and preferably hold or be studying for an M.A. or Ph.D. in Chinese Language Pedagogy, Linguistics, Literature or a related field. Responsibilities include team teaching of Chinese language courses in close cooperation with Williams College Chinese faculty, independently teaching a Winter Study Period language sustaining course under faculty guidance, attendance at language program meetings, participation in Chinese language tables and extracurricular activities, and other work in support of the language program such as holding weekly office hours, class observations of team-taught courses, and correction of homework and quizzes. Fellows receive close supervision and comprehensive training from Williams faculty in teaching Chinese as a second language from beginning to advanced levels. Classroom teaching hours will ordinarily not exceed eight contact hours per week, with total responsibilities averaging thirty hours per week. Fellows receive a stipend of $16,800, room and board (worth $9,000), health and accident insurance, as well as some travel subsidy.
