Havel is looking for a Chiller Technician. In this role you would be performing maintenance, repairs, modification and troubleshooting of primarily centrifugal, screw, reciprocating and scroll, air cooled and water cooled chillers, refrigeration equipment and unitary HVAC equipment.

  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance on chiller and refrigeration unit's electrical and mechanical components.
  • Supports equipment such as compressors, condensing units, purge units, cooling towers, evaporators, pumps, piping, valves, motor control centers and fan units.
  • Maintains excellent record keeping, including refrigeration and operation logs.
  • Performs centrifugal chiller rebuilds, including following all EPA guidelines in recovering refrigerant.
  • Replaces O-rings, gaskets, seals and bearings, sleeve Babbitt, thrust/counter-thrust and roller bearings.
  • Sets clearances on labyrinth seals, journal bearings, seal openings, thrust/counter-thrust clearances per the manufacturer's specifications using precision measuring devices.
  • Works on cooling tower gear boxes, drive couplings, intermediate shafts, fan blade pitches, centrifugal pumps and seal replacements.
  • Understands reverse dial indicator alignment procedures on all types of shaft alignments.
  • Works on equipment brands such as Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin and McQuay Centrifugal, Reciprocating, Screw and Absorption Chillers.
  • Understands and interprets blueprints, sketches or other descriptions of parts to determine their accuracy relative to the manufacturers specified clearances for chiller repairs.
  • Utilizes CFC and HCFC refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment, maintains records and performs all service and maintenance repairs in accordance with current EPA regulations.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed.
  • 5 years minimum experience in chiller teardown, overhauls, and preventative maintenance.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with York/JCI, Trane, Carrier and/or Daikin preferred.
  • Post-secondary vocational or Technical school diploma in Refrigeration from an accredited Institution required OR a recognized apprenticeship program.
  • Verifiable factory training a plus including but not limited to service and operation as well as tear down.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Boiler and steam experience a plus.
  • EPA Certified.
  • Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.
  • Experience working with York/JCI, Trane, Carrier and/or Daikin preferred.
  • Verifiable factory training a plus including but not limited to service and operation as well as tear down.
  • Boiler and steam experience a plus.
