About The Position

The Child Watch Attendant at the White Rock YMCA is responsible for supervising children in the member nursery, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment in line with YMCA policies. This part-time role involves planning and supervising activities, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering to safety protocols while fostering a playful atmosphere for children.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Positive attitude and ability to follow directions.
• Ability to relate positively to children, members, and staff.
• Ability to plan and initiate age-appropriate games and activities.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to adjust from sitting to standing with ease.
• Ability to lift and carry at least 30 lbs.
• Must obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, AED, Blood borne Pathogen, Child Abuse Training & Drug and Alcohol Abuse training certifications.
• One year or more previous experience with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children in the YMCA member nursery.
• Provide safe and enjoyable childcare for members and their children.
• Maintain visual and auditory supervision at all times.
• Plan and supervise activities for children.
• Perform general housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe area.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
• Attend staff meetings and training programs as required.
