About The Position

The Children's Pastor will be accountable to the Victory Baptist Church Body for developing, implementing, overseeing, and maintaining a dynamic and comprehensive children's ministry (birth through fifth grade) and enlisting, training, and supervising volunteers who assist in developing, supporting, and expanding the children's ministry. The Children's Pastor will have knowledge, agree with, and follow the guidelines in the Constitution and Bylaws of Victory Baptist Church. The Children's Pastor will be in agreement and have knowledge of The Baptist Faith Message 2000. The Children's Pastor will report to the Senior Pastor.

Requirements

  • A seminary degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of ministry related experience is preferred.
  • The Children's Pastor must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ who demonstrates spiritual maturity and models an authentic relationship with the Lord.
  • Possess strong verbal communication, written communication, and public speaking skills with a proven track record of success in children's ministry.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for setting the direction of a holistic children's ministry by fulfilling the Church's mission, particularly focused on children and their needs.
  • Leads and directs VBS and summer camp while actively seeking volunteers for VBS and summer camp.
  • Communicates the children's ministry vision to the church body.
  • Encourages and equips children to grow in their walk with Christ and meets their spiritual, emotional physical, mental, and social needs.
  • Leads in designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating a focused ministry to children.
  • Timely plans, recruits, leads, resources, trains, motivates, and encourages volunteers who serve in the children's ministry.
  • Works with the children's ministry team in developing and fulfilling the function of the children's ministry.
  • Intentionally builds relationships and encourages relationships between children and their families.
  • Follows up with visiting families through email, phone calls, and visits.
  • Counsels children and others about salvation and spiritual development and models an active lifestyle of personal witnessing and ministry while leading and encouraging children to develop these disciplines in their own lives.
  • Plans and communicates effectively, timely, and appropriately (speaking, writing, social media, planning, etc.) with children, volunteers, families, and the church body.
  • Integrates new members and prospects into the life of the children's ministry and congregation.
  • Serves as a member of the pastoral team (hospital visits, funerals, weddings, etc.).
  • Consults, cooperates, and promotes a spirit of unity as a team player with the church staff, committees, ministry teams, and members of the congregation.
  • Fills the pulpit as requested by the Senior Pastor.
  • Prepares and administers an annual budget for children's ministry in cooperation with the Administrative Pastor and Finance Committee.
  • Actively serves with the Victory Baptist Church Mother's Day Out program, partnering with Chapel Time and additional MDO events.
  • Plans events and participates in community and school activities to reach unchurched children and their families.
  • Participates in corporate worship services as directed by the Senior Pastor.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
