About The Position

This position involves providing direct in-home intervention for severely emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children and their families within the J.B.S. catchment area. This employee is responsible for providing individual, parenting, and family therapy with a Co-Therapist. The In-Home Team will have a maximum caseload of 4-6 families for twelve to sixteen weeks for each family. The Team will also provide 8-12 hours of weekly direct service to each family. The primary mission of the intervention is to reduce a crisis situation, institute a therapeutic process and prevent out of home placement of a youth.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in psychology, social work, or counseling with an emphasis on clinical services for children and adolescents.
  • Valid Alabama driver’s license and a suitable automobile to permit the required travel.
  • Must show car insurance equal to or in excess of the State of Alabama standards for automobile insurance coverage.
  • Knowledge of the special needs and behavioral characteristics of severely emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children and their families.
  • Knowledge of psychotherapy principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Multi-needs children.
  • Knowledge of professional and ethical principles.
  • Demonstrable communication skills-both expressive and written
  • Ability to organize and manage one’s own activities with a minimum of direct supervision.
  • Ability to utilize multiple electronic and computer based programs, including an electronic medical record system.
  • Knowledge of psychotropic medications to include their use and their side effects.
  • Ability to perform individual, parenting, and family therapy to include behavior modification, R.E.T., parental education and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of community and available resources
  • Skilled in interpersonal relationships and dynamics
  • Ability to work flexible hours due to the special needs of the children and their families.
  • Participate on a rotating 24-hour on call roster.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Licensure preferred.
  • Two years experience working with the children/adolescents with serious emotional disturbance and their families in a community setting with an emphasis on clinical services is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assessing and implementing treatment programs for children/adolescents with a serious emotional disturbance and their families.
  • Responsible for providing direct In-Home therapy to 4-6 families for up to 16 weeks. This includes individual and family therapy, and parenting skills.
  • Responsible for providing accurate documentation in clinical charts on a weekly basis to include intakes, case formulations, and all therapy sessions via electronic medical record
  • Responsible for the completion of required documentation to assess the family and child’s needs and to meet service delivery accountability requirements.
  • Facilitate in-home therapy sessions, and implement the treatment program without direct supervision.
  • Responsible for providing weekly schedule of appointments and hours to the Assistant Clinical Director.
  • Responsible for providing case updates and clinical assessments, treatment goals and progress to the Clinical Director during weekly staff meetings.
  • Provide transportation to children and families when appropriate.
  • Performs other administrative duties as required.
