About The Position

The Children's Shift Supervisor for Nursing- General Pediatrics - 4C at the University of Mississippi Medical Center is responsible for supervising the staff and operations of nursing care for assigned areas or units. This includes scheduling and ensuring appropriate staffing, ensuring that supplies and equipment are available, and working with nurse managers and clinical directors to resolve any issues pertaining to the assigned area or unit. The supervisor will also educate and consult patients and families regarding their concerns and perform job duties in accordance with the medical center's purpose.

Requirements

  • Licensed as RN for two (2) years.
  • Two years of RN experience in specified area preferred.
  • Valid RN license.

  • Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and registered nurses.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the daily operation of assigned areas or units, including adherence to nursing standards of practice and administrative initiatives.
  • Manages and organizes the nursing schedule for the assigned areas or units in accordance with approved productivity standards.
  • Assists with training and mentoring new personnel.
  • Supervises nursing staff on assigned units.
  • Contributes to or performs evaluations of nursing staff.
  • Serves on at least one nursing council, hospital or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or work area.
  • Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.
