The position requires a highly motivated person with a heart of compassion and love , as well as the ability to practice sound judgment and discernment, as they walk alongside moms and children who are experiencing homelessness . The Children’s Services C hild c are Teacher prepares and implement s developmentally appropriate , play -based, trauma-informed programming for toddlers, preschoolers, and /or school-aged children, ensuring alignment with program goals in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Children’s Services Manager . They also work alongside volunteers during program activities , ensuring they are equipped to engage effectively while maintaining site security. The successful candidate will have the proven ability to run a childcare classroom , troubleshoot issues, coordinate with volunteer s , and provide holistic support to kids with trauma.

  • Prepare and implement developmentally appropriate , play-based, trauma-informed programming for toddlers, preschoolers, and /or school-aged children, during program nights, ensuring alignment with program goals.
  • L ead and actively run kids’ program nights, including directly interacting with children, facilitating activities, and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment.
  • Clean and reorganize program space at the end of each program night as needed.
  • Work alongside and support volunteers during program activities , ensuring they are equipped to engage effectively while maintaining site security and high-quality, trauma-informed programming.
  • In collaboration with other children’s services team members, plan, prepare, and implement quarterly family events.
  • Drive company v an as needed t o transport families to and from program nights.
  • Build and model positive relationships and boundaries with residents, staff, and volunteers.
  • Develop a growing knowledge of our resident population that informs all other duties.
  • Maintain strict resident and donor confidentiality, objectivity, and professional boundaries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Children’s Services Manager .
  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and active in a Christian church.
  • 2 years’ experience working with children is required .
  • Experience working with kids from diverse backgrounds.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • H igh S chool d iploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Washington state driver’s license and ability to travel to offsite meetings.
  • Clean driving record for at least the past 5 years.
  • The a bility to lift up to 40 pounds on occasion.
  • The ability to prioritize and organize workloads and manage time independently to meet deadlines .
  • The ability to stay calm and grounded during chaotic and stressful interactions and environments .
  • The ability to solve problems and think creatively when quick responses are needed.
  • Exhibit excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to facilitate effective interactions with residents, donors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of residents, staff, and volunteers from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • General working knowledge of Office 365, Outlook, and Internet navigation.
  • The ability to maintain healthy boundaries and self-care in stressful environments, and coach others in doing the same.
  • Degree or certificate in related field preferred
  • Experience with or understanding of Trauma-Informed Care is preferred.
