About The Position

Relationships Australia South Australia (RASA) is a not-for-profit, secular, community organisation, helping people to overcome difficulties and bring about positive change in their lives. We offer services for families, couples and individuals of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. We are looking for a compassionate and child-centred practitioner who is confident delivering therapeutic support to children and working sensitively with families navigating separation. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, organised, and reflective in their practice, with a strong commitment to trauma-informed care

Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification (AQF level 7) in Psychology, Social Work, Family Therapy or Counselling

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in working with children.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and culturally diverse clients.
  • Experience in Family Law and Post Separation.
  • Experience in working with families in crisis or experiencing domestic violence.
  • Understanding of the effects of trauma on children and adults.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct therapeutic services to children during and after the separation of their parents
  • Provide one to one counselling, therapeutic groups, and education programs to children
  • Work collaboratively with RASA’s other post-separation, relationship education and counselling services, to develop program methodologies, to establish effective referral and shared case management strategies, and, as appropriate , to adopt a whole of family approach
  • Establish effective referral pathways with external children’s services including mental health, schools, and social and community programs for young people
