About The Position

Join our Children’s Team at Centra Wellness Network (CWN). The Mental Health Clinician is assigned to work within a specific specialty population, i.e. adults with Severe Mental Illness (SMI), children and youth with Severe Emotional Disturbances (SED) or adult or children clients with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), and individuals who have Substance Use Disorders and/or a serious mental illness with co-occurring substance disorder. The employee will complete other tasks as assigned by supervisor. Staff must possess computer, typing, grammar, punctuation, proofreading, transcription, phone proficiencies and excellent communication and customer relations skills to effectively interact with staff, customers, business partners and community stakeholders. Additionally, the employee must exercise independent decision-making and work effectively in a team-based environment. The office will be surrounded by nature, located in Benzie or Manistee Counties, just miles from beautiful, freshwater beaches and hiking trails. Benzie and Manistee are a short drive to Frankfort, Traverse City, Cadillac, and Ludington, charming towns outfitted with shopping, unique restaurants and breweries, and a combination of movie-going options including historic theaters and a drive-in! As an Outpatient Therapist, you will provide evidenced based therapies to children, support parents, and be part of an amazing team. Requirements

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field required.
Mental Health Professional (MHP) designation as defined by the State of Michigan required.
Education, training and/or work experience in the behavioral health field with youth and children with serious emotional disturbances and intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Knowledge regarding the growth and development of children and youth and its relation to understanding the range of treatment, care and services needed by clients in this specialty area.
Experience in motivational interviewing and skills for client engagement along with other interventions, screenings and treatments used in behavioral health and substance use disorders, including understanding of Stages of Change by Sharon Meinick, MD.
At least 18 years of age.
Valid Michigan’s driver’s license and good driving record.
Ability to sustain State Licensure in field of practice and/or Certifications to perform duties of the job.
Ability to be certified in First Aid and CPR within 90 days of hire (agency available training).

Responsibilities

Provides therapeutic interventions designed to stabilize, improve functioning and help individuals/families to obtain and maintain recovery from severe and persistent mental illness, serious emotional disorders, addiction, co-occurring medical health complications, and co-occurring disorders.
Provides outreach services and supports to the client as needed and appropriate.
Must become proficient in and/or applying best practice model of treatment interventions to individuals with SUD and/or co-occurring disorders.
Develops, implements and facilitates group sessions using best practice models designed to assist in the recovery process of individuals served, as assigned.
Completes screenings and assessments for the purpose of assuring medical necessity and determining the appropriate level of care.
Provides timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record that includes amount, scope and duration of services provided in accordance with the person-centered plan.
Complies with all CWN and MAPS policies, For CWN: DCH, CARF, and Medicaid criteria for clinical documentation for all aspects of the medical record including, but not limited to, intake assessments, person-centered plans, plan reviews, releases of information, progress/activity notes, annual psycho-social assessments and discharge summaries.
Completion of 24 hours of training each fiscal year that focus on issues that are specific to children and adolescents for those case managers assigned to the Children’s Diagnostic Services Team.
Follows Medicaid guidelines providing interventions with enrolled families a minimum of four hours monthly unless documented otherwise.
Completion or Certification in MichiCANs, DECA and TFCBT or other EBP (as required).
Training and education in the developmental stages for children.
Must be able to complete qualification standards for C-MHP outlined in the Medicaid Manual.
Trained in or ability to complete training on trauma informed care and ACES.
Must be able to complete and demonstrate competency in best practice models of treatment identified and supported by CWN’s clinical division.
Complete other tasks as assigned by your supervisor to continually improve the access to and the quality of care for our clients.
