About The Position

Provo City is looking for a part-time Children's Librarian to perform entry-level professional library service providing programs, activities, and general services for library patrons, specifically for children ages 0-12 and those interested in children's materials and services. Qualified, civic-minded individuals interested in supporting these services are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Provo City will honor equivalent combinations of experience.
A Bachelor’s degree OR 2 years of professional librarian experience.
Basic computer skills including a working knowledge of the Internet.
Experience working with the public and with children is desirable.

Responsibilities

Assist patrons in selecting, locating, and using library materials and equipment, including books, periodicals, and computerized information.
Create grade-level reading lists, as well as other bibliographies to assist children with research and reading materials.
Work with the Children's Services Manager in planning and executing library programs, activities, and services.
Resolve or refer problems to proper authorities for resolution.
Build and maintain relationships with other employees, the general public, local schools, and other public libraries.
Stay up to date on the latest trends and professional changes in the field.
Maintain files and perform research.
Attend conferences, seminars, and other training sessions.
