About The Position

Create a safe, fun and educational environment where campers can explore farm life through hands-on experiences. Counselors will guide campers in camp activities, teach new skills, and carry out camp goals. Animal experience is not required but preferred. Must be available during the following dates: All Staff Training: Attendance Required: Evenings of May 19th, 20th, 21st, 26th, 27th Camp Dates: June 1st - July 31st, Monday - Friday (One guaranteed week off)

Requirements

  • Animal care experience, animal health and handling skills; will train
  • Ability to remain calm, think clearly and act quickly and effectively in emergency/challenging situations
  • Excellent customer service and effective communication skills
  • Set a good example to campers and others
  • Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities
  • Promote good sportsmanship
  • Ability to interact with all age levels
  • Certified or ability to become certified in First Aid/CPR; will train
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Able to attend week of camp training
  • Able to work the majority of the summer. All camp staff get one consecutive week off during summer
  • Must have a current and valid Driver’s License to operate Motorized Vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Animal experience is not required but preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the instruction, supervision, development and organization of campers
  • Deliver programming based on camp program goals, policies, and procedures to provide a quality outdoor education/camp experience for the campers
  • Carry out activities to encourage personal growth, learn skills, and provide challenges
  • Maintain high standards of safety and security to prevent accidents and to respond appropriately in emergency situations
  • Makes sure all program areas stay clean, safe, and presentable
  • Ensures all program supplies stay stocked and organized
  • Assist with feeding and watering of animals as needed
  • Assist with monitoring the health and well-being of each animal; reports issues or concerns to Supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned
