About The Position

Cottonwood is a 16-bed Residential Treatment Facility for children and adolescents aged 7-18 years, offering intensive residential treatment as an alternative to hospitalization.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED / HSE Required.
  • Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Driver's License (Class D for IL Residents), and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must also meet CCC's Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, ability to obtain a Class E license, and proof of continuous auto insurance.
  • Must be able to pass CPR/FA training and ProACT training.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for applicants with previous mental health, healthcare, or youth work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and direction to assigned Behavioral Health Technicians.
  • Act as a liaison between Behavioral Health Technicians and Facility Manager.
  • Provide care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment based on a trauma informed approach.
  • Promote and educate clients regarding activities of daily living including household management (i.e., attending to bedroom, laundry, etc.) and self-care management (i.e., hygiene, grooming, medication, etc.) tasks and responsibilities.
  • Teach functional living skills such as anger management techniques, impulse control, social/communication skills, relaxation skills, emotional coping skills, etc. based on the client's individual treatment plan.
  • Collaborate closely with the treatment team to appropriately coordinate client care services.
  • Complete and chart client observations in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
  • Conduct ongoing checks; including personal belongings, room checks, and grounds checks based on agency policy and procedure.
  • Ensure protective oversight of clients, monitor the condition of clients, and follow agency policy and procedure regarding medical emergencies or elopement.
  • Transport clients to and from appointments as needed and appropriate.
  • Intervene in behavioral health crisis situations, when needed, which may include use of seclusion and/or restrain interventions to prevent self-harm or harm to others.
  • Document according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
  • Based on need, provide seclusion and/or restraint interventions in accordance with Pro-Act guidelines and agency policy and procedure.
  • Maintain certification in Pro-ACT and CPR/First Aid.
  • Responsible for transporting clients in agency and/or personal vehicle as deemed necessary and appropriate to meet program requirements.
