This is supervisory environmental health inspection work in the Health Department's Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. Employees in this class direct the activities of lower-level health inspectors performing environmental risk assessments designed to identify and curb incidences of childhood lead poisoning. Work includes the preparation of reports of findings and recommendations, and performing site checks to ensure conformance to EPA and other regulations for lead abatement. Contact with homeowners, tenants, and contractors to explain codes, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to lead hazards is significant to the work.
