About The Position

We are looking for a caring and energetic member to join ChildServe as a Childcare Teacher. This individual will contribute to a positive, nurturing environment that is safe, clean and organized for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 6 years old. Childcare Teachers at ChildServe encourage children’s overall development through appropriate play-based activities and working collaboratively with families. ChildServe partners with families to help children with special healthcare needs live a great life. ChildServe is a leading pediatric healthcare provider with Iowa’s only children's specialty hospital, offering a variety of services and programs to meet each child’s unique needs. ChildServe’s four key specialty areas include: complex medical care, pediatric rehabilitation, autism and behavioral health, and community-based services. With a coordinated approach to care delivery, services are interwoven and streamlined, so families can address their child’s needs in one location. Established in 1928, ChildServe proudly provides more than 30 pediatric specialty services to nearly 6,000 children in Iowa each year.

Requirements

  • Ability to meet health and safety requirements, including passing a ChildServe physical exam and adhering to any applicable COVID-19 protocols.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, remain mobile in classroom and playground environments, and perform frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and standing.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid, CPR, Mandatory Reporter, Standard Precautions, and DHS Pre-Service Essential Training certifications within 90 days of hire.
  • Effective communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
  • High school diploma or GED required

Nice To Haves

  • prior experience providing care and supervision for children preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine care for infants and children, including diapering/personal cares, hygiene support, hand washing, and serving meals and snacks.
  • Maintain a safe environment through constant supervision, adherence to staff/child ratios, accurate name-to-face attendance, and consistent assessment of children’s general health with timely reporting of concerns.
  • Support a clean, organized, and structured environment—indoors and outdoors—by following Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) strategies.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to families and complete all required documentation accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Demonstrate reliability by arriving on time and participating in required training sessions, staff meetings, and annual professional development.
