About the position

The Childcare Supervisor works closely with the Childcare Manager to ensure the smooth daily operation of our childcare facility. This role assists in supervising staff, implementing educational programs, and maintaining quality and licensing standards for both our recurring community/employee families and vacationing guests. The Childcare Supervisor serves as a key support to the Childcare Manager while providing leadership to the childcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Childcare Manager in implementing age-appropriate educational activities and seasonal programming
  • Help coordinate daily schedules and routines for different age groups
  • Support staff in delivering engaging activities that reflect our mountain resort environment
  • Aid in monitoring both recurring care and drop-in vacation guest programs
  • Help maintain open communication with parents about their children's experiences
  • Assist with staff scheduling, training, and mentoring
  • Help monitor supply inventory and communicate needs to the Childcare Manager
  • Support the maintenance of accurate attendance records, incident reports, and other documentation
  • Assist in ensuring facility cleanliness, safety, and compliance with state regulations
  • Help facilitate smooth check-in and check-out procedures for families
  • Fill in as a caregiver or room lead as needed to maintain ratios
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to childcare staff
  • Assist in orientation and training of new team members
  • Help identify staff development needs and communicate them to the Manager
  • Model best practices in childcare and professional conduct
  • Step in to provide direct childcare when needed, including during staff breaks or high-volume periods or due to call-outs

Requirements

  • Meet minimum qualifications of a teacher assistant of a licensed childcare facility per Vermont DCF regulations
  • Certified in pediatric first aid and in infant and child CPR
  • Experience working with children ages 2 months to 6 years
  • Ability to pass comprehensive background check
  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds, sit on floor, and actively engage with children

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to work towards meeting minimum qualifications to serve as a director of a licensed childcare facility for up to 59 children per Vermont DCF regulations
  • Clear communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Proficiency with standard business software
  • Knowledge of Vermont's Early Learning Standards
  • Experience with seasonal fluctuations and recurring/non-recurring childcare enrollment
  • Commitment to process improvement
