Requirements

  • Ability to perform duties with professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, empathy, care, honesty, and respect.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law; 18 ECE Credits
  • At least 21 years of age
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Health form completed within the 30 days of hire date; renewed every 3 years.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • As a full-time employee you must be dependable, and you will be expected to build consistency and stability in the classroom for the children in your care.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree or higher in ECE or equivalent
  • 3 or more years of experience working in a licensed childcare facility.

Responsibilities

  • Builds personal and meaningful relationships with childcare families while exemplifying the Y’s commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility.
  • Responds to all inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Implement curriculum within the established guidelines.
  • Design and implement daily lesson/activity plans.
  • Supervise children, classroom and all activities.
  • Make ongoing, systemic observations and evaluations of each child.
  • Conduct parent conferences while maintaining positive relationships and effective communication.
  • Maintain program site and equipment.
  • Maintain required program records.
  • Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings and staff training (18 hours per year)
