About The Position

We are hiring for Head Teachers for our After School Program for the 2026-2027 school year at Union School in Union, CT JOB STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt LOCATION: Union School in Union, CT PAY: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour HOURS: 3:00 - 6:00 pm Featured Benefit: Employer-Paid Childcare Healthy Kids Programs provides childcare for school-age children (ages 5–12) enrolled in our program on the days and during the hours you work. Key Responsibilities Program Compliance: Ensure staff and program operations consistently meet state regulations, Healthy Kids policies, and host school requirements. Program Leadership: Plan and lead engaging, hands-on activities aligned with the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academics, arts, and homework support. Program Management: Oversee daily operational tasks such as accurate attendance and registration tracking, scheduling, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels. Family Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with parents and caregivers using the Playground App. Team Collaboration: Communicate regularly with your direct report to share updates, address concerns, and support a positive team environment. Together, you will ensure high-quality care, strong staff morale, and proactive problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Candidates must meet one of the following: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, at least 360 hours of documented, supervised experience in a family childcare home, childcare center, or group childcare home, and at least one semester of student teaching with preschool-aged children.
  • Current Center-Based Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and at least 1,080 hours of documented, supervised experience working directly with children in a legally operating childcare center serving children through preschool.
  • Minimum of 12 credits in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and at least 1,080 hours of documented, supervised experience in a qualifying childcare center.
  • Must be medically cleared to perform all job duties and free of communicable diseases, including tuberculosis (TB).
  • Demonstrates a warm, friendly, and positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills when working with children, parents, and team members.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism; dependable and punctual.
  • Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs., and actively engage in all activities required to safely supervise and keep up with children.
